The team appreciates the anxiety associated with ‘visiting the dentist’ from our own experiences as youngsters. We have worked with hundreds of nervous patients over the years and are proud that so many have gone from losing sleep the night before an appointment to feeling confident to attend and recommend us to friends and family.

We treat all our patients gently and with care and respect, but if your fear has stopped you from attending in the past (even for routine check-ups) then please contact us. We can work together to find a way to dispel your concerns, make you comfortable and address your oral health needs.

A change in legislation means that we are no longer able to offer General Anaesthetic for dental procedures. Fortunately, we do have the safer alternative of Intravenous Sedation. This allows for treatment to be conducted without the patient being fully aware or able to recall the experience.

Intravenous Sedation is usually performed by a specially trained team comprising of a Sedationist, Dental Surgeon and one or two Nurses.

General Anaesthetic may be available in a hospital setting (at the discretion of a senior doctor and anaesthetist), but it’s use is limited to:

  • Extractions of multiple teeth in children
  • Complex extractions in adults requiring bone removal

In hospital General Anaesthetic is not available for other dental treatments such as fillings, crowns, bridges, root canal treatment etc

We do have access to other medications and techniques that can help anxious patients or patients requiring longer treatments. Please feel free to contact us to chat about these options.
